Hi Cupcakes, A friend of mine told be about a new web-based "teamspeak/skype" alternative. I suggest Konijntje looks into this to see if this is better for the guild. (You can even manage very complex permissions ) Personally i like it very much https://discordapp.com/
I have researched this voip alternative and its not as advanced as teamspeak, and its not as social (people use it to chat instead of speak alot) We are not going to switch.
What do you mean with not so advanced? My friend like's to know because he is going to start using it for his Guild. (you can PM me to keep the conversation personal if you want)
Teamspeak offers WAAAAY more functionalities with permissions etc, is very lightweight as well and if you have a real guild with a site its free to use just like discord. But to me the biggest disadvantage is that people will use it as a chat app, not a voip app. Also you cant costumize it alot with icons backgrounds etc unless you pay.
For a little while I was using Discord with my friends. The voice settings are really not that advanced and the chat is rather complex, not necessarily better than TS. As a chat app it's 9/10 for me, I've had a very good experience with it. However as Koni pointed out we as a social guild are not looking for a chat app. I also had some issues with voice channels. People were disconnected from voice channels without any notification. We were talking to ourselves for minutes long; it was very frustrating. This was definitely something with their servers. Maybe they fixed this issue by now.
-1 t discord, nothing in life is free, there will eventually be ads/spam emails or some other sort of crap, for now teamspeak is the number one option.
not yet hence the "eventually" the only people who seem to like it are kids with no money and people/content makers paid to promote it... kinda sad industry really, nothing tops TeamSpeak
